I began my journey in hat-making in 2010 after completing a course in hat pattern-making. During this time, I created historically inspired hats and took part in historical re-enactments set in the late 19th century.
Over the years, I have trained in various techniques of artisanal hat-making, with a particular focus on hats for parties, shows, theatrical costumes, and popular events.
Whilst I do not rule out any aspect of hat-making, lately I have been ‘captivated’—or perhaps more accurately, focused—on the creation of hats, headpieces and headwear in general using handcrafted felt, exploring its myriad possibilities for creating volume and texture, combined with botanical printing (ecoprint) for decoration and dyeing.
